Some nights you watch dance. Folk night, you joined it — the visiting troupe had the front row clapping in rhythm before the second piece, and by the finale half the audience was on its feet learning the last chorus steps.
The evening mixed performance with participation: a drumming workshop for children, a footwork circle where troupe members taught signature steps, and a joint finale pairing our hip-hop crew with the visitors' dancers. Two traditions, one tempo, zero rehearsal — and it worked.
Folk nights are now a fixture: every term, one visiting tradition, one full evening, one stage shared. Members get priority seating, and the workshop places always go first.
